Do you know what this animal is? I didn't have a clue. I'm not sure if there are woodchucks in CA, but I know I'd never seen one up close before I took the picture. This young woodchuck was in our backyard for quite some time, maybe 30 minutes. It didn't even bother him when we all stood around him talking about him. He did move along when the neighbor's cat noticed him.

Now that our public pool is open, we spend lots of time at the park. Our local recreation department does a great job of programing for the kids. Every day during swim lessons there is a craft at the park. So we go play at the park, make a craft & swim Monday through Thursday. This year we are trying to ride our bikes, though Signe is really nervous going down the hills. Today she walked her bike nearly the whole way home. (It IS down hill nearly the whole way home.) Tomorrow I may push the stroller. I can walk just about as fast as she rides. (she is definitely a cautious girl.)

These are the horses we pass on the way to the park. The foal was born in mid-March.
Often we go to the park or the pool after dinner. The kids love the pool. And the life guards love them. We happen to be at the pool while they were assigning kids to swim classes. Our 2 favorite lifeguards both wanted our girls in their classes. That's definitely makes a parent feel good.

We've had SO many thunderstorms in the last month. Well, I shouldn't say we've had them, but they have been forecast. More of them seem to miss us than hit us. But it is relatively annoying to have to worry about them. Today riding home from the park, it was a race to see whether we'd get home before the storm arrived. And then it didn't arrive - just a little rain. Craziness, I tell ya!
