Three Months Old

Isn't she sweet? Anni has come to life this week. Batting at toys and talking up a storm. She is filling in too. I'll have to take some pictures of the rolls on her thighs. You've just got to pinch them. I think that she may be loosing some of that dark hair.

Pajama Girl

Signe loves her footed pjs. For the last month or so, it's about all she wears. She doesn't wear the same ones all day. I make her put a clean pair on in the morning and for bed. Her favorites were the printed ones - pink giraffe, purple stars, polka dots & snowflakes until the pink ones with penguins arrived from Grandma Joyce for Christmas. They are hands-down her favorite.

Luckily, she has lots of footed pjs. I picked up 4 pairs to get her through this winter. Then she has gotten 3 more pairs as gifts and 2 hand-me downs.

She understands that she has to put clothes on when we go out of the house. I stand very firm on that rule. She also understands that she can't wear them when they are dirty. She has asked if they were clean yet.

I just hope that by not making a huge deal out of this that it will pass more quickly. I already see light at the end of the tunnel. All this week she has had clothes on for part of the day, even on the days we've stayed home.

For the Love of Snow

Signe loves the snow. I think that her internal body temperature is wired for it. The child runs so hot. Unfortunately, with a new baby, it's tough for us to get outside to play in it most weekdays. But Wednesday was a good day. Anni napped long enough that we could get dressed and play outside for 35 minutes. 35 minutes in 4 inches of fresh snow. Just damp enough that she could make a snow ball. Just warm enough at 34 degrees that Mommy didn't freeze.

We played "stick holes". I have no idea why, but here's the game. Pull up the dead stalks of the lilies. Put them in the snow in a line. There you have the game of Stick Holes. Well, as long as she had fun.

Anni is licking her hands. She may be a thumb sucker after all. She can't quite get her fingers or thumb in her mouth. So she settles for any part of her hand. It only lasts a few seconds, but you can tell she is delighted. I can't decide if I would rather have her taking a binky or thumb. Six in one hand, half--dozen in the other.

Happy New Year!

It's been almost a week & I think we are recovered from our trip to Minnesota. Signe became sick the night before we flew home. She was still a great traveler though. Her cold is lingering, but getting better.

We're not sure why, (are you ever sure of anything with an infant?) but Anni had a 20 minute crying spell on the plane. I think she was overtired. Think being the key word. There is nothing worse than being the parent of the crying baby on the plane. At least it was only 20 minutes. It seemed like an eternity.

Nothing exciting for New Years Eve here. Kent & I saw midnight this year, which is new. We are usually asleep by 11 at the latest. But both of the girls had tough nights and kept us up until just before midnight. I am sure that I dozed off, just minutes after 12.

Here are some favorite photos from Christmas.
This one is SO funny! We had taken many pictures at this point. To try to get some smiles, I told her to stick out her tongue. Then we couldn't get her to stop making faces.
