Mommy & Anni (May 8)

The one decent picture I managed to get of Anni & me. I took it using the timer on my camera. Not an easy thing. Set up the shot, hope Anni doesn't move, run to be with Anni, hope you got in the shot, and if your just lucky enough, you get Anni to look at the camera. I guess I got lucky!

Sisters (May 8)

I really think that Signe likes Anni. She just isn't quite sure what to do with her. Anni on the other hand adores Signe. Which is probably why she always grabs Signe's favorite toys, much to Signe dislike.

We are working hard on helping Signe to know what to do with Anni. Peek a boo and other things to help them play together. Signe especially likes to jump around and make Anni laugh. It doesn't take much for Signe to make Anni laugh. She really is an easy audience.

It is tough to get photos of them together. This is favorite of the more than a dozen I took.

Almost crawling (May 2)

Anni's getting close. She seems to move forward more than backwards these days. It isn't really crawling. She sort of reaches and then lurches and manages to gain ground. But her legs are really starting to figure it out. I am certain that her days of playing in one room are numbered. This gal is ready to move. She has a big sister to keep up with.

A Proud Moment (April 30)

Yes, it's true. Signe made her first scrapbook page. I couldn't be more proud. I've been trying to scrap more lately. This week I managed to do 2 whole pages! (pitiful isn't it?)
Signe asked what I was doing. When I said scrapbooking, she asked if she could scrapbook too. Because I have a new stand-up scrap-desk, she was able to work at my regular desk. She still needs lots of help, so I didn't get much done. But soon I am sure she'll "do it all by myself". (to quote the little buggar!)
She made three pages. All of them almost exactly the same. Green paper, peach ribbon, sticker letters of her name and photo corners.

Rainy Day (April 23)

What's more fun than getting to splash in the puddles of a Spring rain? Using your new umbrella & caterpillar boots!

She thinks she's funny (April 21)

Signe went upstairs to go potty and came down wearing this turtle neck as a pair of pants. She came down and showed me, totally cracking up. She did it on purpose to be funny. And you know what? She was!

6 months old (April 18)

Toe grabbing, sweet babbling, almost crawling, giggling, rolly-polly, sparkly-eyed baby girl of mine.

Animal Friends

It is probably hard to tell by our blog, but Signe adores her stuffed animals. We never leave the house without a friend of hers. Now there isn't a single one thats a favorite. It's more like the "in" crowd. Frogs, puppies and kitties are almost always popular, but you never know who might get a special appearance.

For our trip to Kansas City, I think she packed 8 friends. She kept adding to her carry-on until it was full. Poor Ralphy didn't fit in her bag and had to wait in the car at the airport. He was a great watch dog and made sure nothing happened to our car.

Pushing Up (April 12)

Can you believe that Anni is already working on crawling? This is her push-up position. She does it quite often. She is working really hard to get her "chops" for crawling.

Poor thing can only go backwards. I think that her arms are stronger than her legs. It is especially a problem once she hits the hardwood floors. She just slides backwards until she runs into something. Often her legs go under the sofa and it looks like it's eating her. (Signe thought it was very funny when I asked Anni if the sofa was eating her.)

I know that crawling is one of those weird things that don't have a place on the developmental time line. But not-quite 6 months seems so young. Signe didn't crawl until she was 8 months old and that was ok by me. I am sure that it has to do with having an older sister to keep up with. But still, slow down little one. Please stay my sweet little baby as long as possible.

Just in case... (April 7)

You only thought Anni made sweet, smiling faces. Here are a few of her other expressions.

Computer Chick (March 30)

I have always been amazed by how quickly kids can learn things. But now as I watch my own children learn, it's even more amazing. On Wendesday, I introduced the computer to Signe. She was very disappointed that she had slept through Little Einsteins, so I showed her the Little Einsteins games at Playhouse Disney. She struggled to operate the mouse. On Thursday, she asked to play on the computer again. By the end of her comuter session, she had figured out that if she used one hand to click and the other to move the mouse, she could go where she wanted to. On Friday, she figured out how to leave Little Einsteins and explore the other characters on Playhouse Disney. She fearlessly clicked on whatever character she liked, trying all of the games and activities. Some times she needed a little help figure out what the point of the game is, but then she was good to go.

Do you think it's possible to inherit computer skills? If so, maybe she's got Mommy's golden finger. That would be a very good thing is this age of technology.

Just a swingin' (March 29)

This is Anni's first ride on a swing. She loved it as you can tell. We've had some lovely spring weather this weekend and spent as much time as possible at the park.
